The Case for “The Fair Tax” and the Elimination of the Income Tax

April 11, 2010 Leave a comment

Our current income tax system has no transparency. It has been highly politicized and corrupted, it hampers real economic growth, it’s unnecessarily complicated and has too many “loopholes”, and apparently some of our “leaders” in Washington get away with not even paying their share of income taxes.

What is the “Fair Tax” and why does it need to replace our current income tax system? Read about it here and take action.

It’s time for a second tax revolt

Please don’t get “The Fair Tax” confused with the national sales tax (or VAT) that the Obama Administration is considering. The Fair Tax would replace the income tax; whereas the VAT would be in addition to the income tax.

A National Sales Tax on the Horizon?

April 8, 2010 Leave a comment

The Obama Administration is considering a national sales tax to reduce the deficit. The socialist ideals that President Obama got elected on comes with a very heavy price for Americans…. higher taxes and less control over your finances. The many Americans who voted for Obama and an even bigger government will undoubtedly find out that you can’t never get something for nothing.

As the nation debates health care reform, whose voice is being heard the most: Citizens, politicians or special interests?

March 26, 2010 Leave a comment

Health care reform has been a dominate story in the news over the last year. As the debate on health care reform nears an end, The President, Speaker of the House, and Senate Majority Leader have been pressuring other democrats to pass the health reform bill. My question is who do President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid think that our representatives and senators should be serving; us, their constituents or the White House and congress. My impression was that our congressmen were in Washington to represent the will of their constituents within the limits of the U.S. Constitution.

Washington Leaders exempt from Healthcare Mandate

March 25, 2010 Leave a comment

Ironically, the people who pushed the hardest for the healthcare bill and are claiming victory, President Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi are not included in the mandate to buy insurance through the state-run exchanges created under the bill as the rest of congress is. Reportedly, the bill at one time required congressional leaders to be treated as the rest of congress; however, during one of the many closed door meetings, this portion of the bill was excluded. The bill that is so “great” for Americans is not quite good enough for the Washington leaders and their staff.

Is America’s two party system working well for our republic?

March 20, 2010 Leave a comment

Although a “two party system” has been prevalent in American politics for much of our history, I will argue that it has also been one of our greatest weaknesses as a republic. Why limit ourselves to just two candidates when we want the “best man” to win? If you were a hiring manager for a company, would you only want to have two serious candidates for a particular job? Of course not, you would want a handful of candidates to increase your chance of filling the position with the best person possible for the job. There is no law requiring that there be two dominate parties in American politics, rather it was an idea that the major political parties embraced and the public has accepted.

Who is Congress Serving?

March 20, 2010 Leave a comment

It’s been all over the news for the last several months….. The President, Speaker of the House, and Senate Majority Leader have been pressuring and arm wrestling other democrats to pass the health reform bill. My question is who do President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid think that our representatives and senators should be serving; us, their constituents or the White House and congress. My impression was that our congressmen were in Washington to represent the will of their constituents within the limits of the U.S. Constitution.

This obviously is not what is going on here. We’ve got a health care bill which Americans overwhelmingly oppose and leaders in Washington who are pulling out all stops to get this bill passed. In response to the possibility of the bill being underhandedly packaged with the Budget Reconciliation Bill in the Senate, President Obama stated that he doesn’t care what means the bill is passed by, as long as it is passed. Meanwhile, Pelosi had stated that we need to get this bill passed so that we know what is in it (and Washington wonders why Americans are confused and oppose this bill).

The bottom line is that there is a lot of arm twisting and threats being made in order to get this bill passed, meanwhile the will of the people is arrogantly being disregarded. We are merely spectators, instead of being the driving force that we should be. I won’t even touch on the question of whether or not this bill is constitutional since virtually nobody, including our own representatives in congress even read the entire bill. In their defense, how could they possibly read and fully understand a complicated couple thousand page bill. On the other hand…. how can they pass a bill that they haven’t read and how can they pass a bill against the will of their constituents.

World’s First ‘Genderless’ Person Recognized

March 18, 2010 1 comment

Did you think that this world couldn’t get any crazier than it already is? Well, it has. The first genderless person has been officially recognized. In short…… A person who was born as a man; had an operation to become a woman, decided “she” wasn’t happy as a woman either; now is officially recognized as being “without” gender.

Let me make sure I’m getting the history of genders straight. First we had males that were born in male bodies and females that were born in female bodies. Then somehow we ended up with females who were mistakenly born with male bodies and males that some how developed female bodies while in their mothers’ womb. Now to find out, there are also people who were born (by some cruel trick of nature) with a male or female body, when in fact they are really an “it”. Is my head the only one spinning?

Something tells me that this person is not going to be happy as a gender neutral person either. I guess I never thought that my gender is what does or should dictate my happiness. Crazy world we live in. Seems like over the last several decades people are more than ever actively searching for happiness and self-awareness; ironically people also seem to be more miserable, confused, and angry than ever.
